First of all

A Golden Reunion

We, the students of RHMS (Rajah Muthiah High School, Mandaveli, Chennai) celebrated our 50 years of school leaving (1973-2023) on 2nd of August.

This celebration is a culmination of one year of planning and deliberations and of course a small wait of a clear 50 years!

The thought that we are completing fifty years since we wrote our SSLC was a sweet one and the sweeter one of course is the reunion of friends after five decades! The reunion is driving everyone crazy, and everyone is eagerly looking forward to its eventual consummation although the events that makeup the run-up are no less exciting.

Suddenly, all of our friends look young and in the same spirits as when they were young, why, bcos the love each other has/had was totally unconditional. It was a case of one heart loving the other, that is why childhood friends are not just mates but soul-mates! Not just me but all should be thinking about childhood friends at every point in their lives and dreaming about a reunion. The thought of reunion Chris crosses here and there in all's life but no one ever makes a serious effort to search old friends since the pressure of family and profession always takes precedence over everything. After retirement, when all activities and responsibilities come to a standstill, the calm mind longs to rewind and reconnect with childhood friends. The Process is relatable to the old record player where the pin after exhausting its journey across the plate once again comes back automatically to the starting point.

How each one was and how we are today, Amazing is a small word. How the unstoppable time flies. When we were young, everyone thought that we were never going to age and that each one would remain a markandeya. But you can't ignore reality. One gets older as years pass by, develops grey hair, gets wrinkles in the skin, his general alertness goes for a toss and his system slows down. But, all these physical shortcomings are at once forgotten when one is in the midst of his childhood friends. One jumps like a boy, shouts, eats more, cuts jokes and does even silly things and totally becomes oblivious about the surroundings and the society, how this magic happens…his reconnection with his school mates, nay, the soul-mates!

We should all be thankful to our lovable friend Ravikumar who made this reunion happen. It was not the revolutionary fb or Whatsapp that united us, as is the case with the majority of reunions, it was the untiring efforts of Ravi that united us. It was he who made us relive the past. A big thanks to him on my behalf and on behalf of all the reunited, reignited friends.
